There is no single distance that works for every conference room. The camera should be positioned so participants are framed naturally at the intended seating positions, with enough field of view to include everyone who needs to be on camera. In a larger boardroom, a PTZ or intelligent camera with optical zoom may be preferable to simply mounting a wide-angle camera farther away. Camera height, viewing angle, table layout, display location and participant distance should all be considered together.
